Ackley Community Foundation Distributes $9,248 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Ackley Community Foundation held its 2023 grant awards celebration at St. Johns UCC Church on October 18, announcing the distribution of $9,248 in grants to two projects of organizations serving Ackley.

“Local nonprofits serve as a pillar in Ackley’s ‘vision for the future.’ We are proud to support these organizations to foster a vibrant community for today and tomorrow,” said Matt McNeal, chair of the Ackley Community Foundation governing committee.

Details regarding each awarded grant are included here:

  • American Legion Elliot Keninger Post 252, Building Window Project, $4,277
  • Friends of the Ackley Public Library, NILC Consortium/TLC Library Management System, $4,971

 Grant selections are determined by a local committee consisting of volunteers from the Ackley area. Committee members include Matt McNeal, Chair, Paula Abbas, Sheryl Arends, Krista Dieken, Jeff Frazier, Becky Jansonius, Barb Keninger, and Taresa Trueblood.

Grants are awarded through Ackley Community Foundation’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service.

Grants are available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and government entities serving Ackley to be considered for funding. Tax-exempt organizations classified as other than 501(c)(3) are also eligible, if and only if, the project is deemed charitable. The 2023 grant cycle opens May 15 with an application deadline of July 15.
