Grundy County Community Foundation Awards Over $143,922 in 2024 Grants to 19 County Projects

The Grundy County Community Foundation (GCCF) held its grant awards celebration atthe Grundy Center Community Center on April 24, announcing the distribution of $143,922 to 19 projects of organizations serving Grundy County through its 2024 grant cycle.
“It’s an honor for the Grundy County Community Foundation to support these local organizations and their projects that will help strengthen our communities and create vibrant places for all to live, work, and play,” said Lexie Hach, chair of the GCCF committee.
The 2024 grant recipient organizations, project the grant will fund, and grant amount are listed below byfunding area.
Arts & Culture
- City of Grundy Center, Theatre – Sound project - $8,637
Community Betterment
- City of Beaman, Fire Department – Thermal Imagery Camera - $7,000
- City of Dike, Fire Department – Grundy County Educational Inflatable Fire House - $10,970
- City of Holland, Fire Department – Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Tanks, Cylindersand Facepieces - $14,502
- Grundy County Emergency Management Agency – Virtual Reality Fire Extinguisher Trainer-$5,000
Education & Youth Development
- AGWSR Community School District – Zen Den Equipment - $3,000
- BCLUW Community School District, Athletics Department – Girls Wrestling Uniforms andHeadgear - $3,315
- Family YMCA of Black Hawk County – Grundy Family YMCA – Flooring- $2,000
- Grundy Community Preschool and Childcare Center – New Building Upgrades - $5,798
- Joyful Noise Daycare and Preschool – Technology Advancement - $2,148
- Little Rebels Learning Center – Critical Technology Improvements - $6,458

Human Service
- Lutheran Services in Iowa – Families Together (FT) II in Grundy County - $2,000
- Northeast Iowa Food Bank – Feeding Families - $15,000
- Operation Threshold, Inc. – Grundy County Crisis Assistance Program - $10,000
Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers fromGrundy County. Committee members include Lexie Hach, Jeff Frank, Nick Jans, Jen Jensen, Pam Jones,Dorothea Olson, Jake Pabst, Kristen Reichert, David Robinson, and Erin Schildroth.
Grants are awarded through GCCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of artsand culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animalwelfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization orgovernment entity serving Grundy County in order to be considered for funding.
