Grantmaking Snapshot: Emmet County Emergency Preparedness
February 13, 2020
It is important to plan in order to be prepared in times of crisis and Emmet County Emergency Management applied and received a $4,000 grant in 2019 from the Emmet County Community Foundation to do just that. The grant funded the purchase of accountability software and equipment that will track personnel, volunteers, and resources used in the event of an emergency. This new system will allow the county’s first responders and others to collaborate and use a single system during emergency situations and potential disaster recovery. This includes Emmet County Public Health, the Emmet County Sheriffs Office, Estherville Police Department, Estherville Fire Department, and Armstrong, Gruver, Ringsted and Wallingford Fire Departments. Emergency Management also plans to work with the Estherville Lincoln Central Community School District in the near future. This project is a great example of entities coming together to make Emmet County a better place for all.
