Grantmaking Snapshot: Historic Preservation in Howard County
January 24, 2020
In 2019, Howard County received a grant from the Howard County Community Foundation for a historic preservation project on a refurbished pioneer Baptist church built in the 1850s that now serves as the Wapsi-Great Western Line Trail Welcome Center in Riceville. This building still has the original antique stained glass windows and the grant assisted with the cost of creating and installing custom-built storm windows. The storm windows will help in the preservation of the original stained glass as well as provide greater building energy efficiency.
